New Tileset: Saigo Station

The new tileset Saigo Station is now available for Patreon backers! I’ve made a triumphant return to 8×8 tiles in this sci-fi tileset. I keep saying this, but this is my new favorite! If I have to keep saying that every time I make a new tileset, I must be doing something right.

(Here’s a big view of the tileset for you to check out, from my social media images.)
Initially, I had a much simpler, more sterile vision in mind for this tileset, but it ended up having extremely complex terrain. There are 140 tiles of terrain alone! It got pretty nuts at times, but it was worth it. I tried my best to give it the look of the final stage of a game, hence the name “Saigo Station.” Saigo means “end” in Japanese, and I love me some alliteration… so Saigo Station it is!

It was also my first time drawing mountains. I’m quite satisfied with the way they turned out. I used a reference, of course, since I’d never drawn them before, and mine came out quite a bit more dithery than I expected, but I liked it. The process sort of reminded me of drawing the planet in the Roseate Moonrise tileset.

Go check it out! If you like it, please consider supporting me on Patreon! You’ll get access to this and a lot more.
