Hey, everyone… I’m back from vacation! I took last week off and had a genuinely relaxing week. Now I’m getting back to pixel art, and drawing/animating the new effects for Effects Gigapack v3.0.0.

WIP Upcoming Gigapack Effect

Here’s a sneak peek at a work-in-progress effect. No animation yet, but lots of sprite detail to appreciate:

These lovely vines will be part of a “thorns” fantasy spell! I’ll be drawing at least one more, and that should be enough variety for the effect. For the animation, I’m planning on having them erupt out of the ground, stick around for a moment, and then retract. Don’t step on these pointy plants!

What Did Will Do On Vacation?

Glad you asked! Last Wednesday, Zephyr and I went to Afton, MN and visited the marina and a public park. Here’s the corgi pics, as promised!

We had a fantastic little trip together, and I can’t wait to take more with her!

Other than our Afton excursion, I spent the week chilling. It was very nice to disconnect from the news, and I picked up Dragon Quest 3 and Dragon Quest 7 for Switch. I have actually never played a DQ game, but I’ve heard such good things from friends, and I love Toriyama’s iconic art style. So far I’ve started DQ3 and am enjoying the classic RPG feel! I named all my party members after characters from Illusion of Gaia, which is one of my favorite games even though it’s a bit obscure.

That’s not all- I and Zephyr, along with my folks, went to a corgi meet-up last weekend! I’ll share some pics from that next Wednesday… Along with more pixel art, of course! I started out the week back with some programming for SparkBolt Studio, but I’ll be working hard on effects now until the v3.0.0 release. Now that I’m back in the swing of things, I’m really excited to draw!
