Hey everyone, thanks for waiting- The new asset pack is finally here! This pack has the juiciest pixel art effects yet.

Super Pixel Effects Pack 3

Like its two predecessors, Effects Pack 3 has 10 animation types. Each animation type comes in a large and small version, and multiple color themes!

Let me know which ones are your favorites! I think they all turned out nice this time, it’s so hard to pick just one.

Other Updates!

Aside from pixel art, I’ve been hard at work on my game engine over the past week or so. That’s right- Not the pixel art editing app I’m making with it (SparkBolt Studio), but the engine itself! I’ve been having fun with trying to optimize it for speed. The old version can handle about 8k objects before slowing down, and the new version can handle over 25k!

Above: 26000 game objects, about the limit before we start dropping frames. Draw type is textured quad, and each object has a location tween and a color tween running.

I’m excited to see how far I can take it. It’s honestly been pretty addicting to work on, and there were a couple nights this past week where I stayed up until dawn tinkering with it. Very fun, but lots of work!

With that said, I’ll be taking a little vacation for the next week! It’s my birthday in a couple days, I’m gonna go see the Mario movie, and I’m sure you all know Zelda is coming out on Friday. Super excited to play it! (But in the meantime: Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection!!)

It’s always hard to take time off (at least for me), but sometimes you just gotta do it and recharge. I’ll be back mid-May with more WIP posts and more pixel art!

Here’s a tentative schedule for the month:

See you soon, and enjoy the pixel art!
